We are passionate about providing psychiatric service dogs to people in need. TESSD understands that the need is truly overwhelming, particularly for teens and young adults. We wish we could provide a service dog to everyone who is eligible; so many are ready to start their healing today.
TESSD is a small non-profit and we do our very best to respond as quickly as possible. Unfortunately,TESSD get dozens of requests each week and cannot reply to everyone. Here is some information upfront to make the process a little easier for you while we are busy training our dogs.
TESSD offers many unique programs to choose from. Please read through the options below to inquire about the program that interests you.
Are you disabled and need a psychiatric serviced dog? If you live in Newtown, CT and are between 12-22 years of age, you may qualify for a free dog and be eligible for our waitlist. Yes, we also place dogs outside of Newtown, within the State of CT. TESSD requires you fundraise half the cost of raising and training the dog. Please visit our Psychiatric Service Dog page for more info.
